Bring Some Sunshine into Your Space with Summer Styling and Decor Inspiration
Bring the sunshine to your home or event this summer, with some easy and sunny summer styling! The flowers are in bloom, the sun is in the sky, the days are getting longer and the weather is (hopefully) staying lovely and warm. That means it’s officially summertime. Even if the sun isn’t shining, you can still brighten up your home decor, or decorate an event or wedding, with the vibrant and exotic feel of summer.
“Everything good, everything magical happens between the months of June and August.”
Jenny Han, The Summer I Turned Pretty
Summer decor is all about bringing joy and happiness into the space, and celebrating the colors of the season. It is a joyful time full of life, so let’s bring some of this happiness to our styling! From sunny seasonal florals to bright colors, there are so many ways to infuse the best of summer into your celebration or home decor.
Looking at nature is a good place to start when it comes to decor ideas and inspiration. To bring the outside in choose bright florals and bold botanical prints, embrace vibrant colors, and be sure to add plenty of plants and fresh flowers to your space.
Here are my top ideas for summer decor styling!
Bring the outside inside
The easiest way to bring summer inside your space? Literally, bring it inside! During summertime, all of the flowers are in bloom, the grass is green and everything is covered in foliage. The easiest way to incorporate that summer energy is to bring all of this flora and fauna inside to decorate your house or event.
The stems of exotic broad-leaf plants such as palms, bananas, and ficus make great statement pieces. Big bouquets of bright hydrangeas add a summer feel to any space, in a home or at an event. Collect jam jars, wine bottles or empty pots, and fill them with fresh multi-colored flowers and grasses. Use hanging planters to trail foliage around walls and shelves. The more foliage and fauna, the better and brighter - who doesn’t love an indoor jungle?
Bright Pops of Color
The addition of bright color pops immediately give a space a fun and tropical summer feeling. You don’t have to go crazy with color, you can just pick one particular room or area where you’re decorating, and add a feature space of color pops. Envision decorating the as though it was a tropical beach party!
Yellow is the color of sunshine and is believed to uplift your mood in the same way sunshine does. Other sunny summer colors are turquoise, lilac, orange, white, fuschia, sky blue and mint green. You can read more about how to pick your perfect color scheme here!
A few easy ways to add bright pops of color are by using colorful throw cushions, brightly colored napkins or table setting accessories, adding in a bright feature rug or with vibrant decor accessories such as candle holders, coasters, or plant pots.
Tableware & Decor
Styling incredible tablescapes does not just have to be for wedding and events, you can also decorate your dining room or outside dining area in a summer tablescape. Colorful tableware, like bright or patterned plates, and colored glassware will bring a real tropical vibe to your dining experience.
Foliage table runners featuring bright blooms and lots of lush greenery will really elevate your table. You can even add in fun props such as flamingos, pineapples or parrots to really bring some summer to your tablescape! Finish off the table setting with jars or vases of bright summer blooms, colored candles and fresh fruit.
