My Top 5 Table Setting Must-Haves

One of The Patterned Desk shop inspirations is my love for table setting.

It brings me so much joy when my family and friends sit together on a beautiful table, enjoying the food and each other. My hope is someday my kids will remember the feeling of having someone who cares about them, of having a family.

Whether you are planning a family dinner or your big day, creating your dream table setting should not be complicated or stressful. Although someone could plan that for you on your event, it would be helpful for an event planner if you can give them an idea on what you have in mind and your must-haves.

Here are my top 5 table setting must haves to get you started.

TABLECLOTH/LINEN

I always believe that having a good foundation is a key to success on every project. Depending on your venue or the feel that you are envisioning for your event, a beautiful tablecloth is important. A more formal event or sit-down dinner might require a plain white or Ivory linen, but a garden wedding might widen your options with some printed cloth that will truly make your setting more relax and eyecatching.

CENTERPIECE

Whether you want to aim big or small, a beautiful centerpiece should not hinder your guests from talking to each other. Do not forget the small details like a table runner and table number that can easily blend in with your chosen centerpiece. Also, keep your budget in mind, though a majestic centerpiece is truly eye-catching, a bunch of flowers in vases with different heights, plus candles on the side will also give your venue a different feel.

TABLEWARE

Your tableware is probably the most used item on your table setting by your guests. Also, it complements your set up in a big way. Don’t be afraid to step out of the box and explore gold utensils or chargers and if the options get too overwhelming, go back to the basics and keep it elegant.

CANDLES

I don’t really have much to say about candles, except it is magical. Try not to skip this small detail, you will be surprised on what candles can do on your space.

PLACE CARDS AND SOUVENIRS

Nothing says we are happy to see you than a personalize place card or souvenir for your guests. A menu to look forward to. A printed program on what to expect for the night. A souvenir with their name printed on it, so they can take home their memories of this special day.

Hope these tips helped you envision your events. Though details are important, remember to enjoy the process. If you are still unsure, don’t hesitate to ask for help or simply visit Pinterest to get inspiration. Also, follow my Instagram or my website for more ideas.
